Expert Care for a Healthier, More Confident Smile

Porcelain veneers are the most refined cosmetic treatment in modern dentistry- bespoke ceramic shells, custom-made by master technicians, that transform the colour, shape and alignment of your front teeth all at once. The result is exceptional, stain-resistant and designed to last for decades.

At Denmark Hill Smiles, every veneer case is planned with the level of care you'd expect from a luxury commission. Photographs, smile design and digital mock-ups all happen before any porcelain is made so the result is agreed in detail before treatment begins.

What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin, bespoke shells of high-grade ceramic typically 0.3 to 0.5mm thick that bond to the front surface of your existing teeth. A small amount of tooth surface is prepared first, so the veneer sits flush rather than bulging forward. The porcelain itself is hand-crafted in a specialist laboratory to your exact shade, shape and finish, then carefully bonded into place.

Your Porcelain Veneers Journey

Porcelain veneers at Denmark Hill Smiles are treated as a lifetime-quality commission. Every case begins with a detailed conversation about your smile what you'd like to change, the look you're after, and how to balance bold transformation with a natural finish. Photographs, smile design software and a wax-up of your projected result help us plan in detail before any porcelain is made. Most cases take three to four appointments across two to three weeks, from initial consultation to final placement.

What sets the experience apart is the standard of the ceramic work. Your veneers are hand-crafted in a specialist laboratory by master technicians, using the highest-grade porcelain materials available. The shade, surface texture, light translucency and even the subtle imperfections that make a tooth look natural are all considered in detail. The result is a smile that catches the light the way enamel does exceptional in every detail, and designed to look effortlessly your own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my teeth become sensitive during whitening? arrow_forward_ios
Some sensitivity during treatment is normal — usually mild, temporary, and gone within 24 to 48 hours of finishing. We minimise it in three ways: by using lower-percentage gels in custom-fitted trays (which leak less than off-the-shelf alternatives), by recommending desensitising toothpaste in the weeks around treatment, and by staggering the whitening schedule if your teeth respond strongly. Severe sensitivity is rare with dentist-led whitening.
How many shades brighter can I realistically expect? arrow_forward_ios
Most patients achieve a shift of four to eight shades — equivalent to going from a noticeable yellow to a clean, natural brightness. Some teeth respond more dramatically than others, depending on the type of staining, the thickness of your enamel, and your starting shade. We'll give you an honest assessment at your consultation, not an optimistic one.
How long do the results last? arrow_forward_ios
Two to three years on average for most patients — sometimes longer, sometimes less. The biggest factors are your daily habits (coffee, tea, red wine, smoking), your hygiene routine, and whether you use your take-home trays for a short top-up every six to twelve months. We'll include a maintenance plan tailored to your lifestyle.
Will it change the colour of my crowns, veneers or fillings? arrow_forward_ios
No — whitening only works on natural tooth enamel. Crowns, veneers and white fillings will stay the colour they were when they were placed. This is why we always assess your existing dental work before whitening: in some cases, we may recommend replacing front-facing crowns or fillings after whitening, so the final shade is consistent across your smile.
Are over-the-counter whitening kits any good? arrow_forward_ios
For very mild surface staining, they can give a small lift — but they're significantly less effective than dentist-led whitening for three reasons: lower-strength gel (legally restricted for non-clinical sale), generic trays that leak and irritate gums, and no clinical assessment of whether your teeth are healthy enough to whiten in the first place. We've seen patients arrive at the clinic with damaged enamel and sore gums from unsupervised whitening — it's the area where the gap between professional and DIY is widest.
