Expert Care for a Healthier, More Confident Smile

Teeth whitening at Denmark Hill Smiles is calibrated for safety, comfort and exceptional results. Unlike off-the-shelf strips and gels, dentist-led whitening uses higher-strength bleaching agents in a controlled, supervised process protecting your enamel while delivering shade improvements you can genuinely see.

Every treatment begins with a thorough assessment of your teeth, gums and existing dental work. We'll talk through your goals, what's realistic, and which whitening route - in-chair, take-home, or a combination of both will give you the cleanest, most natural result.

What is Professional Teeth Whitening?

Professional teeth whitening uses a high-strength peroxide gel to break down stain molecules in the enamel and dentine, restoring your teeth to a lighter, brighter shade. Dentist-led whitening differs from over-the-counter products in two ways: the strength of the agent we can legally use, and the level of supervision throughout - meaning safer, more predictable, and significantly more effective results than anything you can buy in a chemist.

Your Whitening Journey

Whitening at Denmark Hill Smiles is approached as a clinical treatment, not a beauty product which is exactly why the results are so much better. Every case begins with a hygiene appointment to ensure your teeth are clean, healthy and ready to whiten evenly. We'll assess the current shade of your teeth, the type of staining we're dealing with, and any existing dental work that needs to be planned around. From there, we'll recommend the right route for your case.

Most patients choose our take-home system, where we make custom-fitted whitening trays from a precise impression of your teeth, then provide a graded series of whitening gels to use at home over two to three weeks. Some prefer the immediate impact of in-chair whitening, which lifts shades in a single appointment. For maximum results, we'll often combine the two beginning with in-chair whitening and finishing with a tailored take-home phase to lock in the shade.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know which treatments I want before booking? arrow_forward_ios
No. The consultation is designed to guide you through the most appropriate options.
How long does the whole process take from start to finish? arrow_forward_ios
Most smile makeovers take between four and twelve weeks, depending on what's involved. A simpler combination (whitening, bonding and hygiene) can finish in three to four weeks. A more comprehensive makeover involving alignment, veneers and multiple visits typically runs ten to twelve weeks. You'll get a precise timeline at your smile design session, so you can plan around weddings, milestones or whichever event has brought you in.
Can I see what the result will look like before I commit? arrow_forward_ios
Yes — and we'd insist on it. Every smile makeover begins with a digital smile design and, where appropriate, a physical wax-up or mock-up that lets you preview your projected smile before any irreversible work begins. You'll see, touch and approve the result before we proceed. If something doesn't feel right, we'll refine the design until it does.
Will my smile look natural, or obviously "done"? arrow_forward_ios
That comes down entirely to who designs it. A well-designed makeover looks like your best smile — brighter, more even, more confident — without anyone being able to point to exactly what's changed. Most patients tell us their friends and colleagues comment on how well they look, without realising they've had any dental work done. The art is restraint: changing what needs to change, and leaving everything else exactly as it is.
Do I have to do every treatment at once, or can I spread it out? arrow_forward_ios
You can absolutely phase it. Many patients begin with hygiene and whitening, then add composite bonding or alignment later as budget and lifestyle allow. We'll map the whole sequence at your smile design session so you can see how to space it out — and we'll always start with the treatments that deliver the biggest visible change for the least intervention.
